Overview

A mechanical DP switch that trips on the difference between two pressures: filter blockage, pump differential or level in a closed vessel. Ranges from 0–160 mbar to 0–40 bar, static pressure to 250 bar, SPDT or DPDT contacts, Ex ia and SIL 2 options.

Details

A differential pressure switch senses the pressure on both sides of a diaphragm and operates when the difference exceeds the set point, regardless of the line pressure. That makes it the natural device for filter and strainer monitoring, pump and compressor differential alarms, flow proving across an orifice and level alarms on pressurised tanks.

Ranges span 0–160 mbar up to 0–40 bar, with a static pressure rating of 250 bar that also applies to one-sided overload, so the switch survives a blocked or vented leg. Process connections are ¼" FNPT with adapters, typically fed through a 3- or 5-valve manifold. Wetted parts are 316 / 316L stainless steel, Monel or Inconel, and the temperature range is −30 to +85 °C.

The output is one or two SPDT or DPDT contacts with a fixed deadband, repeatable to within 1 % of span. Ex ia intrinsically safe and SIL 2 versions are available for safety loops, and mounting brackets are supplied for pipe or wall installation.

Common users are oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical plants. Where a reading is needed rather than a trip, pair the application with a differential pressure gauge for local indication or a DP transmitter for the control system.
