METRONMENA

Large Variable Area Flowmeter

Large Variable Area Flowmeter
Overview

A wafer-mounted rotameter for high water flows: 1½" to 12", up to 1,600 m³/h, to 16 bar and 200 °C, with a graduated tube that rotates 360° for reading from any side. The standard instrument for firefighting pressurisation and industrial water lines.

Details

For large water flows where a simple, visible reading is enough, the large variable area flowmeter offers a direct indication with no power, no wiring and no pressure taps. A float in a graduated tube rises with flow, and the tube can be rotated through 360° so the scale faces the operator regardless of how the meter is installed.

Meters are wafer-mounted between flanges from 1½" to 12", covering flows up to 1,600 m³/h at pressures to 16 bar and temperatures to 200 °C. Materials follow the service: carbon steel, AISI 304 or 316 for industrial water and process lines, PVC, Moplen or PVDF for corrosive or treated water, and polycarbonate for the indicating tube.

Minimum and maximum flow alarms, protective covers and bypass valves are available.

The best-known application is firefighting: pressurisation and jockey-pump systems, pump testing and fire-water ring mains, where the meter proves flow during commissioning and periodic tests. Beyond fire protection, the meter serves chemical, petrochemical, food, pharmaceutical, water treatment, mining, HVAC and general industrial plants for cooling water, make-up water and process flow monitoring.
