Universal Transmitter (PR 4116)

One DIN-rail module for every analogue signal: the PR 4116 accepts RTD, thermocouple, resistance, potentiometer, mA and voltage inputs and delivers a current or voltage output plus two relays, from a universal AC/DC supply. Programmed from the detachable PR 4500 display for temperature measurement, signal conversion, linearisation and alarms.
Universal Transmitter (PR 4116)
The PR 4116 is the module a panel builder reaches for when the input is not known until the drawings arrive. It accepts RTDs (Pt100, Pt1000, Ni100 and others), thermocouples of all standard types, resistance and potentiometer inputs, and mA and voltage signals, and converts them to a scaled and linearised current or voltage output. Two relay outputs provide alarm or trip functions with configurable set points and hysteresis, so one module can measure, convert and alarm.
The universal power supply accepts 21.6 to 253 VAC or 19.2 to 300 VDC, which removes the need to stock separate AC and DC variants. Configuration is done from the front with the detachable PR 4500-series display and programming interface, which shows the process value in operation and can be moved from module to module to copy settings; no PC is needed. Input, output and supply are galvanically isolated from each other. The module mounts on a DIN rail and is rated IP20 for cabinet installation.
Applications are temperature measurement, signal conversion, linearisation, process monitoring and alarm control in general industrial and process automation, from small machine panels to marshalling cabinets. For an intrinsically safe interface to hazardous-area sensors, see the PR 9116 universal converter.
