Inventory Controller

Between a single indicator and a full tank-gauging system there is a large space: a depot with six tanks, a chemical plant with a row of day tanks, a water works with reservoirs and dosing tanks. The inventory controller fills it. It polls up to eight HART transmitters, level, pressure and temperature, over multidrop or individual channels, converts level to volume and mass with strapping tables and density, and shows each tank on a colour display with alarms, trends and totals.

Inputs are up to eight HART channels; outputs are up to eight HART channels for retransmission and sixteen relays for high, high-high, low and low-low alarms and pump or valve interlocks. The display is a 4.3" backlit colour TFT at 480 × 272 pixels. The controller is powered from 24 to 48 VDC or 100 to 240 VAC, rated IP67 for field mounting on a wall or 2" pipe with the installation kit and protective cover, or panel-mounted in a control room. Data can be passed on to a supervisory system for reconciliation and reporting.

The HART channels also give access to the transmitters' diagnostics, so the controller doubles as an asset-management gateway for the instruments connected to it.

Applications are tank inventory management, asset management and field monitoring in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical and power generation.
