General-Purpose Controller

A field-mounted controller for local automation without a PLC: two 4–20 mA HART inputs and four digital inputs, three 4–20 mA and six relay outputs, a 4.3" colour touchscreen and an IP67 housing. Configurable for batching, on/off and modulating valve control, pump stations and simple loops.
General-Purpose Controller
Many field tasks are too small for a PLC and too complex for a switch: a batch that has to stop at a preset quantity, a pump that must start on low level and stop on high, a control valve that holds a pressure, a tank that needs an alarm and a vent. The general-purpose controller handles these in one IP67 box mounted next to the equipment, with a colour display that shows the operator what is happening.
The controller accepts two 4–20 mA HART inputs from flowmeters, level or pressure transmitters and four digital inputs from switches or pulse outputs, and drives three 4–20 mA outputs and six relays. Applications are configured rather than programmed, with function blocks for batching, totalising, on/off valve control, PID control of a control valve and pump station sequencing, and the 4.3" backlit colour TFT LCD shows values, trends and alarms. Power supply is 24 to 48 VDC or 100 to 240 VAC. A protective cover and an installation kit for wall or pipe mounting are available.
Typical uses are batching from a flowmeter to a filling valve, on/off control of block valves, pump stations, control valve applications and small stand-alone process units in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, water and wastewater and food and beverage. For tank inventory across many HART transmitters, see the inventory controller.
